Chinmaya Mission New York is delighted to share that construction on our beloved Bhagwaan Rama's abode at Upavan is nearing completion. In this final phase of work, we need your enthusiastic participation and support in raising funds, so that we may joyfully open the doors of Upavan ashram for our community in 2025.

We welcome all to Upavan Ashram Fundraiser on Sunday, 29 September 2024, to an enchanting musical evening, with live entertainment, delicious dinner and silent auction.

SRI RAMA - THE EPITOME OF DHARMA

Revered as the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu, Sri Rama lived as a human being, wrangling with the day-to-day situations and conflicts of life, while always upholding dharma. He is a perfect role model of bravery, courage, caring for his family, and keeping his subjects happy. Practicing detachment from fame, power, greed, and desire, Rama always acted in righteousness, when faced with adversity, dissent, or opposition. His serenity in success and tragedy is an inspiration for all.

Human life is often spent in chasing materialism - artha, and sensory pleasures - kāma. The life story of Sri Rama reminds us that the pursuits of artha and kāma must be very well within the frames of righteousness or dharma. Many complexities in modern life can be addressed using this perspective of unwavering commitment to one's duty.
